What troubles you?“Don’t you have anything you want to throw away? Throw it away too! Sure. What thoughts would you have, to throw things away?”
“Myself. I want to throw myself away.”
“Crazy bastard. Listen carefully, you punk. Whether you’re my friend or not, whatever you are doing. I’m going to stop you from doing anything that’ll get you thrown into prison, until the day I die. I’m not sure about other things, but I will keep this promise unconditionally.”

When Nam Soon saw Heung Soo’s face in that window, he knew he would never be forgiven. Namsoon lost all sense of his bearings and just backed away, further and further, until finally he found himself dashing madly along the road, lungs screaming for oxygen. And it was already so far from the hospital. What have I done? I never meant to break Heung Soo’s wings. Yes, he was angry at Heung Soo for abandoning him, for going far away without him. But it was never his intention to break him, to drag him down like this. All throughout the night, Nam Soon drifted around the hospital. He wanted to go back, to apologize. If Heung Soo wanted him to kneel and beg, he would. If Heung Soo said that breaking Nam Soon’s legs would warrant forgiveness, he would’ve broken them cleanly. But he couldn’t go back, and he couldn’t leave. So he crumpled down behind the hospital walls and buried his face deep into his knees. Again and again, Nam Soon would throw his head back towards the wall behind him, banging it hard against the stone as some sort of penance. What should I do? What should I do now? Then dawn arrived and painted the skies white. It’s too late, Nam Soon knew this. Nothing can be done anymore. Starting from the next day, Nam Soon went to sleep. He fell into a slumber so deep, it was almost as if he died. In his dreams, Nam Soon broke Heung Soo’s leg so many times. Or he would be at the hospital, where Heung Soo’s bloodshot eyes bore into him though the window. Nightmares came and went, and when he awoke, he was by himself. He opened his eyes, and sometimes it would be day, sometimes it would be night. Sometimes, the room would be drenched in darkness, when not even a sliver of moonlight shone in. But Nam Soon was always alone in the room. […] The time passed without him knowing. One day, he opened his eyes again and saw that the sky was turning white. For a second, it felt like he went back to that day, sitting at bottom of that hospital wall, watching the sun rise. - excerpt from the official “School 2013” novel
